The Mark Masons Petrol Heads Club - Part 1

“Those were the days my friend we thought they would never end, but they did”

To all my friends in West Lancashire, I wonder how many of you remember when Britain had thriving car manufacturing companies. Some of the cars weren’t shall we say of top quality in the build department or design and did have a tendency to corrode away, but there is one thing you could say about them they were all very individual, you could tell from any distance as they approached what make and model it was.
Not so now, have a look around it looks like all the design teams from different company’s got together and said lets produce the same basic vehicle, the exception is one vehicle which I’m convinced was designed in different rooms at headquarters and then just stuck together to produce the tooling and that was it.
(I won’t mention the model as lots of people drive them and after all it’s only my personal taste)

There are two or three company’s who seem to follow each other’s designs and innovations, especially a couple of quality German makers, having said that in the long distant passed before this lockdown I noticed two cars which were stood next to each other and were virtually identical, I know you may not believe me but it was true, one was a Fiat Tipo, the other was one of the smaller Mercedes A models. Fiat may not have the prestige as some of the so called top quality cars but their design teams are brilliant and are quite often copied by other manufacturers, after all who are Fiat? Yes none other than Ferrari.

Now then let’s get down to business you will see below 20 vehicles or shall we say parts of British vehicles from the 60’s, have a good look and see how many you can identify, it’s only for a bit of fun during this prolonged lockdown, but if you’d like to send your answers in to me just write them down on a £20 note (only kidding)

Come on Arthur this should be easy for you, although we’ve still not seen that Jaguar!!

There is one extra picture of “Tiny” one of my cats trying to help me write this article. !!
